Description
Abipim (Cefepime) Powder for Injection 1000 mg.
Composition
- Each vial contains 1000 mg. of cefepime (as cefepime hydrochloride).
- No other ingredients.
Indications
Abipim is indicated for the treatment of the following infections in adults and children aged 2 months and older:
- Pneumonia (including hospital-acquired and ventilator-associated pneumonia)
- Urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis)
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Febrile neutropenia
- Septicemia
- Intra-abdominal infections
Dosage and Administration
For adults and children over 12 years:
The recommended dose is 1-2 g every 12 hours, depending on the type and severity of infection.
For children 2 months to 12 years:
The recommended dose is 50 mg/kg every 8-12 hours, not to exceed 2 g per day.
The powder should be reconstituted with sterile water for injection or another compatible diluent. Administer as an intravenous infusion over 30 minutes.
The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of infection, usually 7-14 days.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to cefepime or any other cephalosporin antibiotics.
Precautions and Warnings
Appropriate monitoring is required during treatment. Discontinue if severe adverse reactions occur.
Storage
The reconstituted solution should be used immediately. Any unused portion should be discarded.
The powder should be stored at 15-30°C, protected from light.
